Was on the disaqualification list and has over 6,600 stories on ff.net.
This is a series with a lot of fun characters. Although the canon is huge, most of the chapters and episodes are in small episodic arcs - the actual plot, tends to feel more like filler, it's the mysteries that lure you in, so it's easy to get into and pick up from any point. I feel that the art improved a lot towards the later seasons too.
I love Ran! Beautiful heart wrenchinly in love karate chopping Ran. Conan, with his arrogance and comeuppance as he learns to live as a child, Ai with her snarky genius, Kid - kid is a reoccurring guest antagonist who is the protagonist of his own series. He's hilarious and so much fun to look at. I also like Hattori, the Kansai rival for Conan who comes by and is alternatively insightful and clueless.
