Fandoms Promotion Post

not_primetimeNominations are just around the corner (in April, but it takes time to review canons) and if you'd like to promote your fandoms in order to entice fellow participants to offer/request, this is the place to do it.
Please keep discussions of each fandom in separate comments with the subject of it as that fandom. Please also put in the subject warning for common triggers (in the canon and especially anything that is in your comment).
Our guidelines for a medium sized fandom is a) a fandom that isn't listed on the recent Yuletide nomination list (or Signup Summary) and b) isn't a fandom with over 20,000 fics available (megafandom list on LJ and on DW). RPF is allowed within Not Prime Time and is the only exception to the requirement of "a fandom that isn’t listed on the current Yuletide nominations list" though we ask that participants keep to the spirit of the exchange and do not nominate/request very rare RPF. It is still held to the megafandoms requirement, however.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Anyone want to share of the love of this sometimes painful, sometimes brilliant, but nearly always entertaining Trek incarnation with me?

Date: 2012-01-20 05:04 pm (UTC)This is such a huge and complicated universe, I feel like a kid in a sweetshop trying to decide what I'd like to request or offer to write - there are so many possibilities. I'm a huge Baratheon fan myself, with a soft spot for Sansa/Sandor and Jaime/Brienne, and there's about a billion minor characters I'd love to see brought to life. Anyone else interested?

Date: 2012-01-20 09:05 pm (UTC)I'd especially love to see fic that's not Sarah/Jareth; although I enjoy many of those, the fandom is full of terrific worldbuilding fic opportunities. (And also, there's a great lack of Ludo/Hoggle H/C fic. But that may be because the faniverse really doesn't *need* Ludo/Hoggle fic, and I'm just twisted for imagining it.)

bodysoul to, Sebastian! Also, awesome transgender reaper Grell, who compulsively hits on Sebastian! Also, also, moar master/butler HoYay with Soma/Agni! Also, also, also (for the anime side of the verse) MOAR master/butler HoYay with Alois & Claude, who also have HoYay with pretty much everyone else in the cast. Also, also, also, ALSO (for the manga side of the verse) Snake, who is the adorablest footman ever, an ex-circus performer, and talks to snakes all the time. Other awesome servants as well! Other awesome reapers, too!I can only nominate 4 characters, alas, and I pretty much love everyone in this series, so I am really hoping other people will nominate some of the other characters, too. So, yes. Who's with me? :P

Also, this is my reminder to put up an intro post for my prospective meta or possibly flashfic comm for the series. Then I could cross-promote and everything. I've only been trying to get to it for three weeks now . . .
Hikaru no Go (Warning: Has underage characters)
Date: 2012-01-20 11:44 pm (UTC)I'm mostly in this one for the epic GoYay between Hikaru and Akira. Although I do have a super soft spot for Sai, too. And I like friendship stuff with the whole insei group. Also, watching Kuwabara (i.e. the Awesomest Honinbou EVER) fuck with Ogata's head.
This is another one with waaaaaay too many characters that I love.

Date: 2012-01-21 09:57 pm (UTC)I love the boys being silly and Go obsessed, and Kuwabara and Ogata are so much love together, with the snark and rage and !!! There are also a lot of lovely minor characters like Nase who is completely unphased with playing Go possible yakuza, while her date runs off. XD and the Chinese arc! With computer obsessed Yang Hai and chaotic Le Ping!
And Sai is really intriguing with the way he's so centric to the series and characters motivations, despite him only being able to directly interact with one person.
Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle

Kyo Kara Maoh!
Date: 2012-01-21 12:04 am (UTC)I am a horrendous Yuri/Wolfram shipper, after having been tormented by way too much UST for far too long. I also ♥♥♥ Gwendal, who will kill you dead and then knit cute little bunny ears for your tombstone! (Except they were actually kitty ears, but no one could tell. :P) I love Gunter, too, with all his flailing interspersed with random bad-ass moments. And, y'know, any fantasy AU where it is totally normal for the king to have another man for his fiance is immediately awesome in my eyes. :)

Date: 2012-01-21 10:12 pm (UTC)I really loved .murata from his first appearance so I felt really happy when he turned out to be important. I also love Shiori and his jealous guarding of his little brother.
There are also a lot of hilarious female cast members like Annissina who terrifies the castle with her experiments, Cheri - the former Maoh, who makes me laugh so much - I could totally see her being besties with Jennifer with strange advice and embarrassing their sons. :D
There's also lot of intriguing pasts to build upon!

Date: 2012-01-21 12:23 am (UTC)I fell in love with the anime from the very first episode and once Ezra Scarlet was introduced a couple of episodes later, my love was cemented. There's a lot of silliness which makes me laugh (like Gray unconsciously stripping down - and there's a logical reason why he does it that gets revealed later on) and the power of friendship and family that permeates between the members of Fairy Tail. There's so many stories that beg to be written and I'd love to see those fics come to life.
Suits

Anyone else interested in Suits, whether they're fans of these fierce ladies (which would be awesome!) or fans of the more generally popular Harvey/Mike (also awesome, though not my cup of tea) or fans of some entirely different Suits pairing (also also awesome, and please feel free to share what pairing(s) you love best)?

I'll admit that what I'm reeeeeeeeeeeally hoping to get is a crossover, but since I know that's Even More Optional Than Usual, I do have details for non-crossover requests, too.
Detective conan
Date: 2012-01-21 10:25 pm (UTC)This is a series with a lot of fun characters. Although the canon is huge, most of the chapters and episodes are in small episodic arcs - the actual plot, tends to feel more like filler, it's the mysteries that lure you in, so it's easy to get into and pick up from any point. I feel that the art improved a lot towards the later seasons too.

I love Ran! Beautiful heart wrenchinly in love karate chopping Ran. Conan, with his arrogance and comeuppance as he learns to live as a child, Ai with her snarky genius, Kid - kid is a reoccurring guest antagonist who is the protagonist of his own series. He's hilarious and so much fun to look at. I also like Hattori, the Kansai rival for Conan who comes by and is alternatively insightful and clueless.

Date: 2012-02-27 01:24 am (UTC)THIS SERIES! It's like someone combined Harry Potter, The Nightmare Before Christmas and freakin' H.P. Lovecraft. The Grim Reaper runs a school for people who turn into weapons and their wielders ("meisters") There are mad gods whose disabilities are taken seriously (some more seriously than others, but still.) The holy sword Excalibur is an eldritch abomination so obnoxious that it enrages everyone it comes into contact with. (King Arthur's a hero because he could tolerate it.)
The manga is 95 chapters (so far) and there's a 51-episode anime. (Funimation has it available for free on YouTube, their website, etc.)

Date: 2012-03-20 05:33 pm (UTC)Both the books and the TV series were eligible in 2010, but were ruled ineligible in 2011. (Both versions are still considered small fandoms by Smallfandomfest on LJ. Figure that out.)
Of course, 90% of the stories are about Harry Dresden (and Harry/Karrin (or Connie) Murphy, Harry/Bob, Harry/Jared Kincaid, Harry/Thomas Raith or--my pairing of choice-- Harry/John Marcone), but there are so many other characters to write about! There are characters of color, awesome women, characters that are both--and plenty of wizards who are not Harry. This is a rich world, and it needs a LOT more exploration.
